PSTA (14/12). The field review during a series of working visits by Commission VII DPR RI were held at PSTA-LAPAN at around 15.00 WIB. The Head of PSTA-LAPAN, Didi Satiadi, guided the group to review the Atmospheric Science and Technology Information System (ASTINA) media center and INDRAPRASTA Data Center or Information at Graha Pranata Science and Atmospheric Technology.

The head of PSTA-LAPAN, said that ASTINA as a means of atmospheric service information system, was developed with an integrated satellite database and terrestrial observation as well as knowledge of atmospheric science by utilizing the latest information technology. According to Didi Satiadi, LAPAN as an R&D institution supports the government's efforts through related ministries / institutions through research and development activities called the Decission Support System (DSS). One of the DSS products, he said, is the Satelite-based Disaster Early Warning System or commonly called SADEWA and the spatial rain monitoring system or what is called SANTANU. SADEWA and SANTANU are R & D products of PSTA-LAPAN developed to support early warning and risk management of hydrometeorological disasters by relevant authorities, he said.

Then the group visited the INDRAPRASTA Data Center in PSTA-LAPAN. "SADEWA is supported by a satellite-based observation system as well as a prediction system based on the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) and High Performance Computing (HPC) models. In PSTA, HPC is known as Atmospheric Numerical Prediction Computing (KRESNA)," said Didi Satiadi.

PSTA needs for HPC for various purposes including atmospheric design and atmospheric prediction, added Didi Satiadi, PSTA really needs a large HPC, currently at PSTA-LAPAN there are 3,500 cores, this is to increase the resolution and accuracy of the models in PSTA. , he concluded to the group of Commission VII DPR RI.

Chairman of the DPR RI Commission Visiting Team, Eddy Suparno, also said that the visit to LAPAN Bandung was in order to understand the role of LAPAN in disaster mitigation, space weather, falling objects and the use of the atmosphere to support a more advanced and independent Indonesia.

Previously, at the Office of the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), Deputy for Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Halimurrahman conveyed a presentation on Space and Atmospheric Science and Technology as a Driver of the National Development Sector. Clearly, research and innovation in the field of space and atmospheric science 2020-2024 as a driver of the national development sector, are the Decision Support System (DSS), Development of Decision Support Tool (DST), strategic science and technology infrastructure, and technology for post-disaster prevention and mitigation.

Halimurrahman revealed that the DSS includes remote sensing for conservation areas, prevention of pollution, disasters, and utilization of natural resources as a decision support system for policy makers. While the development of DST is based on Atmospheric Science and Technology to support the Smart Water Management System (SWMS). The infrastructure developed in the field of space and atmospheric science at this time is the National Observatory (Obsnas) in NTT and the National Flying Laboratory and technology for post-disaster prevention and mitigation, namely space weather information, said Halimurrahman.

The head of LAPAN, Thomas Djamaluddin, along with the leadership of the Center for Space Science (Pussainsa) and the Center for Atmospheric Science and Technology (PSTA) welcomed the delegation of Commission VII DPR RI when they arrived at LAPAN Bandung. Thomas Djamaluddin, delivered an overview of space weather, falling space objects, the progress of the construction of the National Observatory in Kupang, development of atmospheric observation technology, science and atmospheric modeling and its utilization.
