DETERMINATION OF THRESHOLD TEMPERATURE OF RAIN CLOUD OVER INDONESIAN BASED ON MTSAT AND TRMM SATELLITE DATA

Abstract
Rainfall estimation based on cloud top temperature requires determination of threshold temperature of rain clouds. This paper studies the spatial threshold temperature of rain clouds over Indonesia based on Multi-functional Transport Satellite-1Replacement (MTSAT-1R) and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite data. The data used in this study consist of 728 sets of MTSAT-1R and TRMM satellite data, which are a gridded data with a temporal resolution of 3-hours from December 2007 to February 2008, which is the peak of rainy season in Indonesia. The results show that in general the threshold temperatures of rain cloud vary around 216K to 256K based on Perfect Correct (PC) method where value vary between 0.8 to 0.9.
